Behind the Scene at Jitters

At Jitters we give our customers a warm and social place to meet friends, unwind, and enjoy a great cup of coffee.  Jitters proudly serves Kaladi Coffee, roasted fresh daily  in Alaska.  Our goal is to make your  experience at Jitters a positive one. The satisfaction of our customers, friends and family is the measure of our success. You make Jitters happen.

How It All Began

Jitters opened for business in 1994. Owners Dennis and Linda Johnson with their two daughters, Briana and Shanda are the family behind the scenes. The Johnsons  have lived in Eagle River for over 35 years, raising kids, teaching school, operating a river rafting business at one time, running an art gallery/gift shop, and enjoying the beauty Alaska has to offer. Their extended family reaches far into the community. Many customers now remember Dennis as their 6th grade teacher.  These days, you will likely see Johnson grandchildren enjoying a silly soda when you stop in at Jitters.

Making A Contribution

At Jitters we believe community support is a fundamental way to inspire change and make a difference. We support the Partners in Schools Program. Education is crucial to the success of our next generation. Many of our baristas grew up in Eagle River and are working in their home town. It’s our policy to hire locally whenever we can. Our community offers a great quality of life and we are proud to be a part of that.

Supporting The Arts

“Where Coffee is an Art” is the Jitters motto. We know making good coffee is an art, but supporting the arts is part of who we are. Jitters  provides a venue for local teachers to hang student art shows, for emerging artists to have solo shows and for musicians to play their tunes on occasion. For more information about having an art show or performing at Jitters, please contact Dennis Johnson at 694-5479.
